A DUI (Driving Under the Influence) arrest brings several immediate concerns, including your driver's license status. In this video, Matt Knauss provides critical information on what you need to know and do after a DUI arrest to protect your driver's license:

  1. If you've refused a breath test or registered a BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) of 0.08 or higher, the Department of Licensing intends to suspend your license. You have just seven days to request a hearing to contest this suspension.
  2. The hearing occurs via a conference call conducted by a Department of Licensing employee. Despite the inherent bias in this setup, it allows one to hear the officer's account under oath without a prosecutor present.
  3. If your license does get suspended, we can assist you in obtaining a restricted driver's license. This will allow you to drive anywhere within Washington if your vehicle has an interlock breathalyzer device and has a specific insurance policy.
